FYP..O..FYP...

How's ur FYP?...I tell you that's the taboo question to ask a final year student in NTU...like me!! I tought FYP could never kill me...well it didn't but it was close to sending me to coma X___X...If you see this nice picture created by melonfarmer...well that's a very cute representation of myself...=P huahaha...doing my FYP!!! Ok, some people in some other parts of the world may not know what FYP is..so just in case..it stands for Final Year Project...one self-explanatory term i guess...very self-explanatory in fact, can send u a shiver down ur spine hearing it huh =P....

So what's my FYP all about..wow i'm all excited explaining this huahahha.....It's called "Calibration Studies of a Cable-Driven Humanoid Arm"...sounds cool huh...well rule no 1..they all sound deceivingly cool...sometimes so cool that only "cool" ppl can understand what on earth some project title means....why am i getting more n more cynical these days *hmmm...bad...* Well i guess they are meant to show professionalism...Ok back to my point, yep, it's about calibration....so what is calibration? In lay men's term it is like this...

There's this robotic arm which are driven by cables...u played that game before where there's a pen tied with many strings, each person hold a string from different direction and u have to cooperate with ur friends to make the pen moves and write smth??? this works in similar ways, so the arms will be moved by the cables connected to it. Then this arm will be made with certain sizes right...but the actual size won't be the same as the design values because of manufacturing error so we want to measure this 'error' in the sizes or parameters...how??? by that gun-like machine snoopy's holding.....hihihih

I tell u that machine really teach me what patience really means *deep breath*....His name is Faro =P...and he is 10-year-old, and much abandoned before we met... I don't know whether it's because he's old or because he wants to look for attention that he gave me so much trouble...ok, i'm getting a little mad =P..well he needs desperate upgrading to be honest and that would cost $7000 at least...and my boss says that's too much money to spend so i have to bear with him...uurghhh well alright, i think i'm getting used to him...He's sensitively cool actually, u can measure anything by just pointing the probe and "click"...and he's damn noisy when i turn him too much =S...

I'm really mad am i not?? hahaha...alright...i'm in need of lots of sleep, midnight delivery and prayer....better end here...
